Words from the Artist

My work is primarily figurative with an emphasis on the subject of movement.  The paintings are done on canvas using acrylic paint and charcoal as well as special papers using sumi ink and brush.  The source of my ideas come from the gestures I sketch at rehearsal with the Oregon Ballet Theatre and the Northwest Dance Project where I am artist in residence at both venues.
In addition to figurative work I also paint wildlife portraits for my online card business. This offers a refreshing break from large easel work and provides a fun challenge on a much smaller scale.
I have been actively painting since 1989 and have experienced the opportunities of different galleries up through to my present gallery , Gallery 903.
After years of studios in downtown Portland, my dream studio has been built on our home property.  Thus I am now free to come and go at all hours and days of my choosing as well as host art related events.
