As an artist, I have found that abstraction offers a way to combine an interest in the nature of perception with investigations into visual resonance of color, especially the brilliance of color that acrylic paint offers.
Experimenting with heavy gels led to the freedom of creating shapes with depth and surface treatments that exceeded where brushstrokes couldn’t.
Working with different tools and fingers to give form when combined with flat blended colors was a combination that was tantalizing. Creating depth with gels takes me further in a direction to explore space and motion.
My intent as an artist is to create an experiential experience and not a literate one. This requires a viewer to spend enough time to where the eye finds a place to travel.
