As an artist my first love is painting. Whether on wood panels, monotype plates, or ceramics, I have been at it for as long as I can remember.
The natural world and objects of daily life are launch pads for my exploration of color, texture, line and form. Working intuitively, usually on wood panels, I paint, scrape, sand and repaint until I achieve layers of color and texture that give depth to my work. This manipulation of the surface can obscure or reveal the history of previous marks. The unintended consequences of this process can be surprising and beautiful.
