I think of my abstract paintings as "inner-scapes". They capture, through expressive brushwork, how I'm feeling that day, and often surprise me by showing me something I wasn't consciously aware of.
I work with acrylics and mixed media, but also digitally, using my iPad. In the beginning stages, I paint without too much thought, almost meditatively. Later, I'll make changes here and there to make a more satisfying composition. Balance is important. But, I don't want to over think it or over refine it. There's often magic in the disarray. I put a lot of faith in my subconscious to lead the way.
