As a full-time Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary artist, I examine how my own body performs work, carries stress, and achieves a state of rest. For these paintings, I carve, burn, soak, scrub, sand, and buff plywood panels, overlapping various textures to reveal implicated shapes. I aim to recreate moments in my life where words have been inadequate; whether in personal relationships, at the bedside of terminally ill patients, or outdoors in new landscapes. I'm interested in the places where words falter and through painting, I try to study these gaps in our language.
