I create dreamlike, atmospheric abstract paintings that remind us of our experiences with nature, from the mountains to the desert to the forests to the sea.
With intuitive, gestural brushstrokes of fluid water-based paints and water, I carve suggestions of nature's shapes, abstractions of shadows and forms, allowing the painting's surface to develop with the playful exchange of adding, removing and altering layers. I then continue to enhance the luminosity, depth and mood of the painting with more patient, meditative glazes and veils of thin paint colors as well as various acrylic mediums. This process repeats and evolves until memories or sentiments are evoked and captivating surface is achieved.
