Pondering Pattern
Pattern recognition and creation come remarkably easy for me. A pattern consists of repeating elements, and I have used single or multiple repeating elements in almost every serious artwork I have ever undertaken. In the past, physical objects were repeated, lined up and organized for presentation. Only recently did the product transform into two-dimensional patterns that are graphical or geometric in appearance. I often apply these patterns to glass wall panels, dangling panes or tabletops.
While there is usually a visual pattern present within any design or art outcome, it is the repetition within the process of creating that may attract me the most. I believe this is due to the predictability of the results as I find it comfortable to work on a schedule which often becomes a routine. Just like an element repeats within the design or presentation, a task often repeats within the process.
