Occasionally people say, "It must be so fun making art!" and I think... sometimes it is! Sometimes, it's like pulling out a splinter. It just feels so great when it's done. Art is not always easy, and it's not always fun; but it is always worth it. Like love. It's fulfilling, enriching, elating, provocative and some not-so-great experiences as well. As they say, it's "all the things." As with love (also, all the things) participation is most important.
Paintings, to me, are little love notes to something interesting, beautiful, curious, amusing or fleeting and they're also study notes on the behavior and effect of light, water, wind and gravity. If I get it right, there's a moment preserved a feeling of potential energy cluing us in to what might happen in the next moment.
