Trifon Markov

My art is influenced by the beauty of nature and an amalgamation of medieval and renaissance styles, often pairing vibrant colors with melancholic romanticized scenes. Combining the brightness of impressionistic-inspired flowers with the hard edges of a palette knife together with delicate linework in a new, modern style. While I use a variety of techniques and styles, my goal is to find a fine balance between them; I believe that art should be eclectic, like in one of El Greco's paintings. Although there may not always be multiple distinctive styles incorporated into one work, the subject matter is also an influence. The inspiration of each body of work influences the color and line expression. A single project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different themes and meanings. Whether traveling through nature or divining inspiration from literature, whichever the muse, art is looking at a subject-real or metaphysical- with your head tilted sideways, or perhaps upside down. That is, art is taking that which is "real" and showing its uniqueness at a different angle.
