Janie Lowe
In my work, I use oil paint in an attempt to capture fleeting moments in life that makes one stop and take notice. I strive to connect with the viewer- to evoke some kind of feeling, memory or just sheer joy. It's intriguing the way light falls on objects and wraps them in it's glow, revealing their truest colors, values, shadows and form. I am fascinated by images that start to emerge when placing pieces of color on the canvas- it's like magic and I find it thrilling. It's most satisfying the more mundane the object is, to try to find the beauty in something no one would give a second thought about- makes me realize that everything/one can be interesting, you may just need to change your perspective.
