I am a printmaker and illustrator focusing on making linocut, letterpress, and monotype prints. My work is primarily about my experiences related to living in SE Asia, and the plants and animal species native to the region.
I’ve lived and worked extensively on the Thailand-Burma (Myanmar) Border, wherein 2010-2011, I helped to establish an arts and crafts studio that provides Burmese migrant youth with artisan skills. During 2014-2015 I focused on a self-propelled teaching and printmaking project called Thailand Burma Flora Fauna, which enabled me to return to Mae Sot, Thailand to teach drawing and design classes to migrant children and adult art teachers.
Typically, I make my work on a small etching press in my studio using traditional printmaking methods, primarily with black oil-based inks. I have also been producing full-color giclee prints of my illustration and oil painting work, which dovetails with my printmaking imagery and themes.
