Should an extraordinary visual moment only live for a moment?
Why not recreate the energy of that time in oils on canvas so that this energy is available to us at any time of the day or night?
This is what my landscape paintings attempt to do. They have a purpose, they are intended to evoke a spiritual connection we have already made with our planet.
In my work the actual location I’m painting is deemphasized. It isn’t important to know where I painted. What is important is that a painting resonate with the viewer’s own experience through a conscious or a subconscious connection. The painting then becomes as much a painting of a time they have experienced as it is out of my experience.
My process is to see and then paint the landscape symbolically and use color as the primary voice.
