My formative years were spent under the giant Redwoods taking goats on walks, creating communal banana slug/newt/centipede farms, and dressing up my pet rats and making them ride the dog. Inspiration for my work comes from nostalgia, kitsch, art nouveau, childhood experiences, religious art, Japanese Prints, femininity, mythology, obsessions of the Victorian era, riding the fine line between tacky and beautiful, and always the endlessly bizarre manifestations of nature. I like the interaction of light & dark, good & bad, innocence & complication, humour & gravity, and the reality of the natural world and the human need to idealize it.
