My studio is a contemplative space where I paint mostly landscapes borne from an early and undeniable urge to wander to the top of the ridge. Encaustic is rarely used in landscape, but its alchemy offers many ways to marshal the deliberate happy accident, so as to see over the other side. In this way, I find the discovery of place repeated again in my studio. On the best days, painting is a deeply spiritual process of paying gratitude--that I have witnessed untold facets of this Earth-jewel. Paint that.
