My painting considers the conversation of finding the divine voice within nature. There is so much to hear if we will take time to be still and listen. The days of sitting in a tree reading a book and eating my lunch, are a treasure of my childhood, deeply reflected in my painting as an adult. My work considers the view point of the journey from the expanse of the overlook to the closeup details of pause along the path.
What I find on this journey is often the juxtaposition of grief and celebration, hope and despair, growth and failure. The landscapes of the northwest teach me and guide me in my studio practice and in my life. I never want to stop learning and listening.
