Abbylyn Williams
My artwork tells a story built with the characters of myth, mysticism, and legends; often referencing protagonists that are going through a transformation or have come to rest in their final power. I work on a large scale to emphasize the strength that my subjects portray as they take up space on the canvas. The compositions hint at a narrative and invite the viewer to create their own story as they view the piece.
Using acrylic and oil paint, I love to explore the tension between organic and graphic elements. I use shape, line, and gold metal leaf to create a conversation with more painterly, representational marks in my work.
