Who was Kimberly Gales?
The name Kimberly Gales is an important one in Portland Open Studios history. As one of the first board members of our organization, started in 1998, she helped establish the yearly tour.
Her untimely death of a stroke in 2005 – at age 56 – rocked her friends, family, and the PDXOS community. Every year since, the board has awarded at least one Gales scholarship to an emerging young adult artist.
Gales' daughters, Aimee and Katie continue to collect and contribute donations for the scholarship. Opportunities to support the funding of the scholarship remain. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause.
