Amy Fields
My work explores texture, translucency and form through the medium of porcelain. Simple, functional forms decorated with creatures and textures of the natural world from birds and jellyfish to glaciers and coral. Atmospheric firing is a major aspect in my work. The amalgamation of wood ash and soda interacting with the minerals in the clay create a wonderfully unpredictable surface of color and pattern. And I am continually enthralled by this process.
