Cassie Ferguson
Cassie Ferguson is a Portland-based printmaker and film photographer. She received her B.S. in Biology with a Minor in Art from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and her MFA in Print Media from Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University. She is employed as a printer at Mullowney Printing Company, Portland, OR. Under 'Lost Bearings Press', she operates as a collaborative printer and works with fellow artists to produce and publish editions from her home studio. In her art practice, Cassie works in a variety of print and photo processes including copper plate photogravure etching, stone lithography, screenprinting, and silver-gelatin printing. Using these analog methods, she documents her experience as a skateboarder by showcasing the places she skates. This work serves as a personal archive, but also a living documentary that preserves the various stages that skateparks go through. Many of the places she skates are ephemeral in nature as they go through cycles of demolition and rebirth, especially DIYs (skater-built locations). She finds it important to pay homage to the concrete structures by using a combination of analog photography and traditional printmaking methods.
