As a professional artist since 2005, I've created more than 720 original paintings. I paint all kinds of flora, fauna and other nature-inspired themes, but I'm best known for my paintings of the forest and trees, and in particular, the distinct quality of glowing sunlight that is often featured prominently in my work.

In recent years, I've increasingly incorporated imagery into my art from my countless wilderness hikes around the Portland area.

Many of my paintings focus on the play of sunlight under the peaceful shelter of a forest. The result is joyful images that give my viewers a feeling of wonder. With my art, I want to help others feel empowered to take on the challenges of life in a way that allows them to experience beauty through the ups and downs. By celebrating humanity's connection to the natural world, I intend for my imagery to have a calming and healing effect on viewers.

I work in acrylics on canvas and wood panels. I usually start a painting using a photo reference for inspiration, but once I transfer the important parts of my plan onto my canvas, I often stop looking at the photo and I let the painting process take over.

For me, art is a combination of careful planning and intuitive play. I love experimenting with new materials and techniques. So, when I have visitors to the studio, I always delight in sharing my most recent art experiments, and my thoughts about the current inspiration that is informing the direction of my work.
