I am born and raised in Portland Oregon. Community relationship is integral to who I am, my art practice, and to how I move and integrate into my surroundings wherever that may be.
I paint or draw daily from the model, still life, or landscape. even if it only thinking about how light falls across a face or object. My commitment to working from life allows me to continually learn and develop my understanding of painting and how relationships are integral in all aspects of my life and painting explorations.
I like to think that my painting process mirrors the spontaneity and energy of the people I portray. In landscape and still life subjects, I look for a similar connection though atmosphere and light. I mostly paint from life to see these continuities. However, some candid moments can only be captured from a quick sketch or photo reference, and this exploration is also a layer of my art practice.
People, curiosity and the willingness to take risks keeps me constantly engaged as an artist.
