My approach to the art of woodwork and furniture is deeply rooted in a philosophy that highlights the stories inherent in materials and the intimate dialogues they enable within our spaces. This philosophy has been cultivated through a journey that not only spans diverse landscapes but also delves into the rich tapestry of human and environmental connections. At the heart of my work lies a profound respect for the materials I use, especially those sourced from the lush and vibrant Pacific Northwest, a region that inspires my designs with its natural beauty and ecological diversity.

Living and working in the Pacific Northwest has instilled in me a profound connection to our local environment. The woods I choose - white oak, walnut, and Douglas fir - are not just materials; they are echoes of the forests that define this region. They carry within them stories of growth, resilience, and the cyclical nature of life. My designs aim to honor these stories, bringing pieces of the natural world into the spaces we inhabit and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us.

This connection to place and material informs every aspect of my design process. Inspired by the principles of simplicity and functionality that characterize both Danish and Japanese furniture design, I strive to blend these influences with the distinct character of the Pacific Northwest. The result is furniture that not only pays homage to international design traditions but also reflects the unique identity of our region.

My journey through architecture and construction has taught me to see furniture as more than objects; they are participants in our daily lives, shaping our interactions with space and with each other. This perspective drives my commitment to creating pieces that enhance the harmony between human environments and the natural world.

In embracing the philosophy of design, my aim is to create furniture that transcends the ordinary, offering not just utility but a deeper connection to the world around us. Through my work, I aspire to celebrate the beauty of our local environment, inviting those who encounter my pieces to reflect on their own relationship with nature and the spaces they inhabit.
