Lacy Lowry
I employ symbol and abstraction in my paintings to explore emotional and spiritual themes, such as intimacy, isolation, change, desire, and letting go. Seasonal shifts, color encounters, and the natural environment heavily influence my work. This current series began in late fall/early winter and reflects a shift from playful and bold toward a more reflective, quiet state of mind. My curiosity and studies in neuroscience and mindfulness also guide my creative process. I envision the canvas as a portal to an imaginal world that lingers in-between structure and chaos, form and formlessness, articulating momentary states of mind. In all of my work, I strive to create a visual atmosphere that encourages contemplation and the loosening of preconceived ideas, allowing for the viewers own narrative to arise.
