Mark Germann
Mark Germann is a photographer producing fine art B&W and color prints using traditional darkroom methods as well as digital printing. His focus is on landscapes both "natural" and those affected by our creations. For Mark a print is a visual metaphor of a specific place and time never to be the same again. He moved to Portland 5 years ago from Massachusetts and is enjoying the creative arts community and new places to explore and share his work. With his partner watercolor artist Andrea Matthews he has hosted two community charity events and loves participating in events in the Arbor Lodge neighborhood.
Mark was educated at Mass College of Art, created archival portfolios at Palm Press, sold professional equipment at Phil Levine's and started his own freelance business in 1980. Shows include Westford Parish Arts Center, Light Sources Boston and publication support for Odyssey National Geographic and Westford Past and Present.
Current projects include studies of water, transportation, wildfires and the language of graffiti. A larger project will be the donation of over 50 years of documentary photography of the town of Westford Massachusetts. A collaboration is underway with the library, museum and historical society to create a permanent collection of his photographs of the people and places of his home town. Sharing his work with people allows Mark to share his curiosity about the world and meet interesting people from the community.
