With each portrait and botanical painting I share my read of the soul before me. I invite you to look beyond the representation of flowers, of a face, to see living, breathing, expressive beings. Beings submerged in light and suspended in an embrace with the air around them. I want to convey the emotion with which flowers take up space as though to speak in a language beyond words, a language made of light, water, and air held together by fine, tender fibers. A delightful three-dimensional visual poem, a brief meeting of airy translucency and sophisticated architecture.

I work directly from life, through close observation and study of form, light and the signature of each being. I study the dynamic structure, temperature relationships, light logic, and I stay centered on the gesture that is revealing itself. The direction, movement and transformation shifts from moment to moment. I paint more than an object, but a living being and the relationship it has with the space around them. They unfold, reach and expand to take as much space and experience as much sunshine in the time they have. I work from a sense of awe, a longing to understand my purpose and faith that the beauty I bring into the world has meaning.
