Abby Williams is a Portland-based artist who explores the realm of imaginative realism. She has a degree in Illustration from The Rhode Island School of Design and has exhibited in multiple themed group shows both nationally and internationally. She works predominantly in acrylic to bring her paintings to life.
"My artwork tells a story built with the characters of myth, mysticism, and legends; often referencing protagonists that are going through a transformation or have come to rest in their final power. I work on a large scale to emphasize the strength that my subjects portray as they take up space on the canvas. The compositions hint at a narrative and invite the viewer to create their own story as they view the piece. You will often find decorative elements carefully applied with gold leaf mixed into the composition or framing the figure that draw from Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences." |
