Erica Gibson is a Portland-based mixed-media artist whose three-dimensional assemblages transform reclaimed objects into expressive, enigmatic sculptures. Rooted in a deep reverence for the natural world, her work weaves together found materials with hand-sculpted clay faces, inviting viewers to explore their inner lives and connection to the environment.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the Pacific Northwest, and she is currently represented by Sidestreet Arts Gallery and RiverSea Gallery. She has also shown at Blind Insect and Imperfecta Galleries.
Committed to sustainability and imaginative reuse, Gibson works primarily with natural and second-hand materials. She discussed this philosophy in an interview with Natural Earth Paints, reflecting on her fascination with transforming everyday objects into meaningful visual narratives.
Gibson completed a residency with The Verdancy Project, creating site-specific works for the Terra Incognita Land Art Exhibition using natural earth pigments to animate the forest with subtle facial expressions. Through her art, she blends storytelling, material curiosity, and ecological awareness to create work that is both intimate and evocative.
