Liz Borowski is a mixed media artist living in the Alberta Arts neighborhood. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Arizona and has been featured in exhibitions throughout the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, she has exhibited at Guardino Gallery, Brassworks Gallery and Verum Ultimum Art Gallery. Liz teaches watercolor classes in her home studio that focus on process, experimentation and joy. Liz is a forever student of astrology and tarot.
"Making art is a humble practice that also holds the promise of something magical. When I paint, I get out of the way and let the work flow through me. The alchemy of mark-making and experimentation generates a search for meaning, a tool for learning, and a way to find my place in the world. I'm drawn to art mediums that have an element of unpredictability such as watercolor, gel plate printing or gesture drawing. There is a collaboration that happens while working with these mediums leaving room for something transcendent to emerge. Often the final step to my paintings is stitching embroidery thread. I find the application of mending the painting to be healing, and a reflective process that speaks to a time-honored hand arts tradition. I value curiosity, play and collaboration, and enjoy sharing my process with others." |
