Shanon Playford lives and paints in her native Portland, Oregon. Having first attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, she then received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Shanon is known for a theme-driven, versatile style that bridges traditional techniques with contemporary irreverence. Her work has been featured on album and magazine covers. Over the years, she has participated in solo and group shows in Portland, as well as Chicago, London, Miami, & Austin.
"I define my work as 'poetic realism' and my process as 'Protean-Chameleon.' Eternally curious, I frequently shift my approach of subject to keep the work evolving. While I am deeply rooted in traditional oil painting techniques, I often choose to juxtapose them with contemporary, conflicting elements to create a modern conversation." |
