Lindsey Fox

"My current body of work uses patterns inspired by nature, balancing abstraction with traditional rendering of the landscape en plein air. I love to explore wild places, and bring to the viewer an experience of the awe and wonder that I experience in the backcountry. Painting outside is important to my practice; it serves as a way for me to remember the textures, unique colors and incredible compositions of the world around me. I then bring my outdoor studies into the studio to finalize and create abstract interpretations. One of my goals is to make the viewer experience what I feel when I am out in nature; I want you to feel like you are on a hike with me. I want you to notice the wild patterns, the textures, the perspective, and the color relationships that can never be captured in photographs. I'm communicating what I both feel and see."
