Roxanne Coleman

Roxanne Coleman's work centers on landscapes and urban scenes, drawn mainly from her own photographs. She begins with dark accents and bold, gestural brushstrokes. She then layers numerous applications of bright acrylic paint and often, mixed media. Her work has been juried into the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts and the REMAX Equity Group Art Exhibitions. She has also participated in solo exhibitions at WLACC, Arthouse 23 Open Studio, and the Under 300 Gallery. Her work has been sold across the country.

"For the past 25 years, I have worked as an artist in the Portland area, drawing primary inspiration from my own photography. My practice centers on landscapes and urban scenes, exploring the interplay of light, atmosphere, and structure within familiar environments.

While acrylic is my principal medium, I also incorporate mixed media and collage to expand the expressive range of my work and invite varied emotional responses. Through the use of dark accents, bold gestural brushstrokes, and layered applications of thin paint, I build nuanced surfaces that reveal subtle shifts in color, light, and form."
